Beginning
Do you remember in the beginning of your walk, when you first experienced the love of God? Your world was new, you saw people as souls rather than a hipster or a jock? The grass was greener, the sky seemed to be your favorite Pablo Picasso, the wind was your favorite voice, the rain was your favorite feeling. Each day was new, with new life, feelings, emotions, thoughts, actions, songs, words. Your eyes were filled with love and your heart with forgiveness. Your mind was filled with songs of praise and thankfulness. Somewhere along the way you heard "Eye has not seen, ear has not heard of the blessings God is about to pour out on you". Somewhere along the way God promised you something and it has yet to come into fruition. Somewhere along the way you began to doubt. Those doubts began to steal your joy, love, peace, faith. Those doubts silenced your praise and voiced fear and worry. Where did you go? Where did the person with ambition, dreams, vision, fire, go? You can remember a deep burning fire inside of your soul. You remember getting lost in thoughts about setting people free, showing them the love of Christ. You remember seeing the captive set free! Somewhere along the way you slipped back into the old ways. You started to not understand yourself, you wanted to do what is right, but did the exact thing you hate. All of the sudden you realize you have alot more problems than you ever thought you had. But you can't tell anyone. Because you're supposed to be perfect, right? You're a Christian, you don't have short-comings. You have been buried with Christ and live with him. Everyone else is so perfect and everything is peachy, Just look at them. I'm not good enough. You're afraid to tell people how you feel, you're afraid that they'll judge you. You're afraid your friends will no longer be your friends. Maybe, you're afraid that admission of your sins God is going to come down from heaven and judge you himself. Well I'll be honest, he will, he already has. 2,000 years ago he came to earth. He bore our iniquities, transgressions, sins, sickness, diseases, healing. 2,000 years ago he saw your brokenness, he saw your separation from God. 2,000 years ago saw your worries, fears, doubts, short-comings. 2,000 years ago he knew you would break promises to him. He knew you could never live up to the law. 2,000 he stood in the Garden of Gethsemane and said "I AM THE ONE YOU SEEK; LET THEM GO". They went free, just as your are free today! There is now therefore NO CONDEMNATION for those who are in Christ Jesus. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!" You know him! The one who took your place! The one who ransomed me! The one who gives peace and love and joy! You know him! Nothing has changed except your view of him. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever! Beginning and the end, the alpha and the omega!
In the beginning God asked Adam. "Where are you? " Today, I ask you that same question. WHERE ARE YOU? Are you at the feet of our king praising his name despite the circumstances and trusting in him. Are you with King Nebuchadnezzar, Building your own empire. Not realizing that one day you won't have a U-haul behind that Hearst.
Where are you? Where is your walk? Where are your thoughts? Just like God did Adam, God actively searches out his children to draw them back to himself. Go back to the beginning, don't hide. You're justified! You're righteous! You're loved by the beloved and the beloved is yours! God sings and dances over you.
Come back.
"Heaven and Earth with pass away but my words will remain"
